    “appears to have a crooked spire” that’s because it genuinely does have a crooked spire

    The 14th century spire is twisted by 45 degrees and leaning 9 feet 6 inches.
    This was possibly due to the absence of skilled craftsmen [after the Black Death], insufficient cross-bracing and the use of unseasoned timber
    It is a Grade 1 listed building and is known by the common byname `Crooked Spire’
