Freedom Monument
Freedom monument was erected in 1935. Previously a statue of Russian Ruler, Peter the Great was available in that spot. Public donated funds to construct this monument. When Latvia was a part of Soviet Union, Soviet authorities thought about demolishing the monument but they were concerned about the possible tension therefore monument remained.
