Built in 1955 as part of a local hydroelectric system, this lake drain collects water from the Ribeira das Naves stream and routes it through a 1,519-meter underground tunnel to the Lagoa Comprida reservoir. Over time, moss and wild flora have grown naturally around its concrete edges, giving the subterranean tunnel an iconic, portal-like appearance.
